WinFix: .Net Framework 4.5.1 – Install Error 0xC8000222 on Windows 7

Installing .Net Framework 4.5.1 on Windows 7 causes error 0xC8000222.

This error code may be caused by the corruption in Windows Updates datastore.

.Net Framework 4.5.1 Supported OS:

  • Windows Vista / Windows Server 2008 (SP2)
  • Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2 (SP1)
  • Windows 8 / Windows Server 2012

.Net Framework Downloads:

Solutions:

  1. Open services, stop BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) and Windows Update services
  2. Open windows explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
  3. You can either rename C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.OLD or you can delete all files and folder under C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
  4. Go back to services, just turn on Windows Update services
  5. Run .Net Framework installation again
