WinFix: Reassociate ISO mounting with Windows Explorer in Windows 8.1/Server 2012 R2

Windows 8.1/Server 2012 R2 has a new feature to mount ISO using Windows Explorer.

However, when you install third-party tools such as 7-Zip and associate ISO file, the option to mount using Windows Explorer is not longer available as the entry in registry is deleted in registry HKCR.iso

 

Problem

ISO Entry to mount using Windows Explorer is not longer available due to registry entry is deleted HKCR.iso

Right click on ISO file and select Open With, you will see only default application associated

Steps to restore ISO mounting:

  1. Download and Unzip Admin Script

  2. You need to run under Administrator account by double click the registry file.

  1. Right click, select Choose default program and select Windows Explorer

The option Mount to mount ISO appears.

 4. To select ISO application manually, select Open with
